The previous supplier was not able to meet the timing and quantity needs of the customer. The customer was experiencing spikes in usage generating a need for shorter lead times and cost effective process reductions.
As a full-service company equipped to manage the design, manufacturing, kitting and fulfillment, StampSource had the perfect background to provide a solution. We collaborated with the client to create a design that allowed for quicker turns of product through all phases of the manufacturing process. This product has various components which flow through multiple manufacturing processes including laser cutting, stamping, piercing, welding, forming, powder coating and kitting. StampSource was eager to Rise to the Challenge!
This floor stand kit measures 46 1/4” x 13 3/8” and contains an assortment of powder coated tubes, plates and bagged hardware that we kit in house. The kits are assembled with customer supplied marketing packets, hardware packs and assembly instruction books and then packaged in custom boxes with the customer’s artwork. We developed a work cell based on the one-piece flow concept to ensure a high level of quality while allowing for scalability, flexibility and minimal inventory overhead. This production model allowed us to maintain the unit cost structure and implement a timetable that ensured an uninterrupted supply of product.
After several years of production, we conducted a VAVE (value add/value engineering) event with the customer to identify a material reduction concept to allow for cost savings.
Our customer has been able to fill their market demand and account for spikes in the market. Our cost reduction initiatives have kept the customer completive in the market place even with rising raw material costs.
